Why go in June
Mild walking weather, parks in leaf, fewer extremes
About New York City
New York rewards walking more than planning. Each neighbourhood is its own world — the green sprawl of Central Park, the galleries of Chelsea, the food stalls of the Lower East Side — and the skyline reorganises itself with every block.
When to go
Late spring and early autumn are the most comfortable: mild temperatures, blue skies and the city's parks at their best, without summer's humidity or winter's cold. It's the ideal window for an open-top sightseeing bus or a skyline observation deck ticket booked ahead to skip the queue.
What it costs indicative, varies by date
Things to do book tickets & tours
Ride to the top of the Empire State or Edge for the view, walk the High Line, then catch the ferry past the Statue of Liberty. Broadway shows, museum halls and a helicopter tour over Manhattan round out a first visit — most are cheaper and faster when ticketed in advance.
